High friction surface treatments at four intersections start May 15

GAYLORD, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $398,000 to install high-friction surface treatments at intersections:

Counties:
Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Emmet

Highways:
M-37, M-72 and M-119

Closest cities:
Buckley, Williamsburg, Maple City and Harbor Springs

Monday, May 15, 2023

Estimated end date:
Friday, July 7, 2023

Traffic restrictions:
Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic regulators.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly five jobs.

Safety benefit:
This surface will provide more traction for vehicles slowing or stopping at the intersection or navigating curves, particularly during inclement weather.
