Work in 2023 will be between Lagrave Street in Paw Paw and Union Street in Lawton. Crews will be repaving and rebuilding M-40, making drainage improvements, and rebuilding concrete curb and gutter and storm sewer markings.

In 2024, crews will return to continue rebuilding M-40 from Union Street to 72nd Avenue. Work will include rebuilding concrete curb and gutter and storm sewer, culvert replacement, sanitary sewer relocation, streetscaping, and lighting.

During 2023 work, there will be single-lane closures on M-40, and two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic regulators. There will be a total closure in 2024, and M-40 traffic through Lawton will be detoured on 72nd Avenue, Nursery Street, 66th Avenue, 32nd Street, and White Oak Road.
