US-41, US-2 lane closures, shifts for bridge work in Delta County start Monday

ESCANABA, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin bridge maintenance work Monday, Aug. 21, requiring lane closures and traffic shifts on three US-2 bridges and one US-41 bridge near Rapid River.

During work on US-2 over the Whitefish River and US-41 over the Tacoosh River, one alternating lane of traffic will be open using temporary traffic signals.

Work on US-2 over the Rapid River and US-2 over the Tacoosh River will be completed using lane shifts.

A lane width restriction of 11 feet will be in place on all bridges during this work.

The work, involving bridge deck sealing, is expected to be completed on all four bridges by Thursday, Aug. 24. This work is weather dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.

MDOT advises motorists to remain alert for workers and use caution when traveling through the work zones.
