Detour route upgrades begin Sept. 28 ahead of 2024 M-30 bridge building project in Gladwin County
September 26, 2023
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing and guardrail work this week on Dale Road near Edenville in Gladwin County. This work will upgrade local roads that will serve as the detour route while MDOT rebuilds the M-30 bridge over the Tobacco River.
MDOT is investing approximately $12.5 million to build a permanent M-30 bridge over the Tobacco River to replace the temporary bridge put in place following the 2020 Edenville dam breach and flooding. Work on the new bridge is expected to begin in March 2024 and includes new drainage, guardrail, and bridge approaches.
