M-20/Isabella Road intersection closed for paving in Mt. Pleasant starting Nov. 10

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close and detour the north leg of the M-20/Isabella Road intersection in Isabella County to complete paving operations.

This work is part of an overall $19 million investment to rebuild M-20 from Mission Street to US-127. M-20 improvements include resurfacing the roadway, signal modernizations, adding a right-turn lane on eastbound M-20 at Isabella Road, replacing the bridge bearings on US-127 over M-20, and pump station improvements. During this work, local municipality contributions will replace sewer and other local utilities.

Work for 2023 is expected to wrap up by Thursday, Nov. 30. In 2024, crews will be working on phase two of the project.

Traffic restrictions:
Paving will impact only the north leg of the M-20/Isabella Road intersection. The north leg will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 11. Traffic will be detoured via Summerton Road and Airport Road.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 268 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This work will ensure that crews can safely perform paving, seeding and pavement marking work.
