Project information:
This approximately $1 million project includes 2.7 miles of asphalt milling and overlay work, pavement markings and sidewalk improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on M-29 in Algonac from Nook Road to Greenwood Street.

In the proposed road diet, the current pavement markings from Nook Road to Smith Street would be reduced from five lanes (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane), to three lanes (one lane in each direction with a center turn lane). The pavement markings and lanes in the remaining segment from Smith Street to Greenwood Street would stay the same.

Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project with the use of traffic regulators. All crossroads will remain open to traffic. During sidewalk ramp work, sidewalks will have intermittent closures with pedestrians detoured to the opposite side of M-29.

Work is expected to begin this summer.

Public input:
In addition to the open house, comments and input can also be submitted online, by mail or e-mail to MDOT Public Involvement Specialist and Hearings Officer Monica Monsma at MonsmaM@Michigan.gov.
