Lane closure for Portage Lake Lift Bridge project July 8
June 27, 2024
HOUGHTON, Mich. - Elevator car installation on the US-41/M-26 Portage Lake Lift Bridge between the cities of Houghton and Hancock will require closing the northbound outside lane on the bridge from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 8.
The work is part of the $4.3 million Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) investment to replace bridge elevators and install false decking under one bridge span. The decking work was completed last year.
This repair project will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
