M-96 closures and detours in Springfield start Sunday

MARSHALL, Mich. – As part of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) project to resurface 4.4 miles of M-96 in Augusta and Springfield, there will be nightly closures of M-96 and detours while crews pave M-96.

Traffic restrictions:
M-96 in Springfield will be closed while being repaved in three separate phases, with traffic restrictions on one segment at a time:
- Armstrong Road to Hill Brady Road: The posted detour will be Armstrong Road, Denso Road, and Hill Brady Road.
- Avenue A to Helmer Road: The posted detour will be Avenue A and Helmer Road.
- Hill Brady Road to Avenue A: There will be one lane of M-96 open in each direction.
Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 28 jobs.
This work will improve ride quality and safety for motorists and improved pedestrian access.
