US-131 auxiliary lane construction starts March 2 in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and contractor Milbocker & Sons, Inc. will be adding an auxiliary lane to northbound US-131 between I-94 and Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo, as well as widening the westbound I-94 ramp to northbound US-131.
Work on this $13.4 million investment is set to begin Monday, March 2, with work in the right of way along northbound US-131. Project completion is expected in mid-September.
Drivers can expect single-lane and ramp closures throughout construction with some ramps detoured. Those closures will be announced as the project progresses through several stages.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 113 jobs.
