Lane closures for U.P. bridge inspections Aug. 10-12

NEWBERRY, Mich. - Crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing routine bridge inspections on structures in the eastern Upper Peninsula from Aug. 10 to 14. The inspections will require intermittent lane closures.
The following closures are scheduled for the inspections. The work is weather-dependent:
- Aug. 10-11: The Heath M. Robinson Memorial Cut River Bridge on US-2 in Mackinac County will have lane closures under flag control 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.
- Aug. 12: The I-75 Business Spur (Portage Avenue) bridge over the power canal in Sault Ste. Marie will have shoulder closures 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. The I-75 Business Spur (Ashmun Street) bridge over the power canal in Sault Ste. Marie will have traffic shifts from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. (Aug. 13 and 14 are contingency dates for work in case of weather or other delays.)
These inspections will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridges.
