Bridge preservation work requires weekend closure on northbound I-75 in southwest Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. - Weather permitting, crews will close northbound I-75 from Schaefer Highway to Springwells Street to apply protective surface coating to four bridges. The protective coating application is designed to lengthen the service lives of the structures.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, and ending by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, northbound I-75 will be closed from Schaefer Highway to Springwells Street. Northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured via northbound I-275, eastbound I-94 and eastbound I-96 back to northbound I-75. Local traffic can use M-85 (Fort Street).
Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, the northbound I-75 entrance ramps at M-39 (Southfield Road), Outer Drive, Schaefer Highway, Dearborn Street and Springwells Street will be closed.
