Michigan Hydrologic Calculation Procedures
Project Number: SPR-1750
Contract Number: 2019-0311 Z1
Status: Complete
Start Date: 11/01/2021
End Date 06/30/2025
Summary:
This report describes analyses and recommended updates to methods for estimating flood discharges in ungaged watersheds. Tasks included updating rainfall frequency and storm distribution data, recalibrating the unit hydrograph model, and evaluating the time of concentration method. GIS-based tools were developed for hydro-enforcement, watershed delineation, and weighted Curve Number calculation. In addition, regional regression models were revised based on new geospatial datasets and advanced statistical methods. A final task investigated alternative hydrologic techniques, specifically methods for incorporating climate projections and the use of rain-on-grid modeling techniques.
