M-14 Ann Arbor Noise Analysis

About this project

In 2024, the Michigan Legislature directed the Michigan Department of Transportation to evaluate the traffic noise on M-14 from Newport Road to North Maple Road in Ann Arbor.

This study will analyze existing and future noise levels and evaluate potential abatement methods, if any, that could improve the traffic noise environment for the public schools within the study area. MDOT will inform the Legislature on the existing noise conditions, the noise results, provide potential mitigation items and construction cost estimates. If any noise mitigation is recommended, the extent and cost are unknown as of early 2026. This study is not connected or related to any past, current or future MDOT road or bridge project.
