Michigan Traffic Incident Management Effort
Michigan Traffic Incident Management Effort
Coordinated incident response
Michigan’s Traffic Incident Management Effort (Mi‑TIME) is a statewide partnership involving MDOT, law enforcement, fire services, EMS, local road agencies and towing companies. These groups work together to safely and efficiently clear traffic incidents from Michigan’s roads.
Traffic Incident Management (TIM) helps maintain safe, reliable travel while reducing delays and economic impacts from congestion.
Mi‑TIME responder training provides common TIM standards and practices to support quick clearance, improve coordination and enhance safety for both responders and motorists.
Michigan's Move Over law
Michigan’s Move Over law requires motorists to slow down and move over for stationary authorized vehicles with activated flashing or rotating lights.
Violations are a civil infraction and carry a $400 fine and two points on the driver’s license.
