Eastbound Blue Water Bridge traffic configuration during ongoing maintenance project on westbound span
July 24, 2023
- The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is currently completing critical maintenance on the westbound span of the Blue Water Bridge (BWB) through Oct. 13.
- Both directions of traffic are currently traveling on the eastbound span of the bridge.
- To ensure smooth traffic operations, upon entering the United State all cars/Nexus/RVs should use the right lane while truck/FAST vehicles should use the left lane.
PORT HURON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is reminding all eastbound Blue Water Bridge (BWB) travelers to follow directional signs for commercial and commuter traffic through the duration of ongoing maintenance on the westbound span.
On July 5, the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) closed the westbound span of the BWB to complete necessary maintenance. To accommodate each direction of traffic while FBCL completes this critical work, both are being maintained on the eastbound span of the bridge (one westbound lane, two eastbound lanes).
To ensure smooth traffic operations upon entering the United States, westbound drivers are being reminded to follow directional signs, with all cars/Nexus/RVs using the right lane while truck/FAST vehicles should be using the left lane.
While work continues, delays are expected and all drivers are asked to remain patient and use the appropriate designated lanes.
The BWB is an essential economic link between Canada and the United States. This important project continues the commitment between the FBCL and MDOT to maintain and preserve the safety and reliability of the BWB.
