M-19 (New Haven Road/Washington Street) to remain closed over I-94 until Sept. 1 for bridge work in Macomb County

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The current closure of the M-19 (New Haven Road/Washington Street) bridge over I-94 is being extended to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, for additional work, including bridge work and washout repairs. In addition, the eastbound I-94 exit ramp to M-19 and the M-19 entrance ramp to westbound I-94 will remain closed.

M-19 detours:

  • Northbound M-19 traffic will be detoured on westbound M-29 to northbound County Line Road, then westbound 26 Mile Road back to northbound M-19.
  • Southbound M-19 traffic will follow eastbound 26 Mile Road to southbound County Line Road, then eastbound M-29 back to Washington Street.

This work is part of a $32.5 million project on I-94 from M-29 (23 Mile Road) to County Line Road that includes bridge work at six locations, traffic signal upgrades and partial ramp rebuilding at the I-94/M-19 and I-94/M-29 interchanges. Work will be completed by late fall.
