I-75 Gaylord Rest Area replacement begins Sept. 5

GAYLORD, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $4.3 million to replace the Gaylord Rest Area on northbound I-75 in Otsego County. The project includes demolition of the existing rest area facility (built in 1976); building a new facility to include four restrooms and a family restroom; and updating the parking area to include new pavement, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, drainage improvements.

Traffic restrictions:
The rest area and parking lots will be closed to traffic until mid-May when the new facility and all paving work is completed, weather and work progress permitting.

This work will improve the safety and convenience of this rest area and upgrade all features to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
