M-102 (8 Mile Road) project closing multiple intersections between John R. Road and Sherwood Avenue Oct. 5-9
October 04, 2023
DETROIT, Mich. - Work crews will be making improvements on eastbound and westbound M-102 (8 Mile Road) in the two left lanes, along the median, and through the intersections at John R., Dequindre, Ryan, and Mound roads, and Sherwood Avenue, along the borders of Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties. The two newly rebuilt right lanes will remain open.
Beginning 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, the following intersections will be closed along M-102 (8 Mile Road):
- John R. Road
- Dequindre Road
- Ryan Road
- Mound Road
- Sherwood Avenue
Alternating intersections will be closed starting at M-102 (8 Mile Road) and John R. Road to Sherwood Avenue. Once work is complete, the intersections will reopen and the remaining intersections will be closed. Consecutive intersections will not be closed at the same time. During the closure, crossovers adjacent to the intersection will remain open for through-traffic to get around the closure.
The M-102 (8 Mile Road) bridge over I-75 remains closed with traffic shifted onto the service drives. That is expected to be completed and reopened by early November.
In late November/early December, M-102 (8 Mile Road) is expected to be complete between M-1 (Woodward Avenue) and M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) and reopened to four lanes.
In spring 2024, crews will make improvements to the M-102 (8 Mile Road)/I-75 interchange, ramps and service drives with a completion date in late September.
