M-142 improvement project starts April 1 in Huron County

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close M-142 to through-traffic from M-53 to M-19 in Bad Axe during a $5.2 million improvement project. Work includes resurfacing the roadway as well as sanitary sewer and water main work. The roadway will also be widened for the addition of a center left-turn lane from Nugent Road to a half-mile east.

Traffic restrictions:
Starting April 1, M-142 will be closed to through-traffic within the project limits. Local traffic and access to homes and businesses will be maintained on eastbound M-142 while westbound through-traffic will be detoured via Carpenter Road and Learman Road to M-53.
The intersection of M-142, M-19 and Carpenter Road will be converted into an all-way stop, starting April 1.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 74 jobs.
