Project information:
MDOT is investing approximately $13 million to rebuild 1.1 miles of M-58 from Avalon Avenue to M-84 in Saginaw. Work includes hot-mix asphalt rebuilding, new concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks, signal upgrades, signs, landscaping and pavement markings. MDOT is also coordinating with the City of Saginaw to make upgrades to city sewers and water mains.

During construction, eastbound M-58 (State Street) will be closed and detoured onto westbound M-58 (Davenport Avenue). Westbound M-58 will be converted into a two-way road with a temporary center turn lane.

Prep work is currently underway and includes signal work and tree removal. The traffic shift from eastbound M-58 to the westbound side is expected to take place this spring with anticipated completion in spring 2026.
