M-123 closures for emergency culvert repairs start Monday in Luce County
November 20, 2025
NEWBERRY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be making emergency repairs to the M-123 culvert over Auger Creek north of Newberry, Luce County, requiring crews to intermittently close the highway beginning Monday, Nov. 24.
Emergency work will require traffic to stop for up to 45 minutes at a time during working hours. Traffic will be released in alternating directions after each stoppage.
During non-working hours and holidays, the road will be open to alternating traffic using the temporary signal already in place. The lane closure is expected to be in place until repairs can be completed, tentatively by Dec. 19.
Provisions will be made for emergency personnel to pass through the work zone at all times.
A 10-foot width restriction is in place in the work zone. No overweight loads will be permitted.
These closures are necessary to keep motorists safe and prevent further damage to the roadway.
