DEARBORN, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Restore94 project to repair and rebuild I-94 between I-275 and US-12 (Michigan Avenue) at the Dearborn/Detroit border is set to begin in late February, starting with the preliminary work of clearing and preparation of shoulders and medians for the traffic shift necessary to reconstruct the future realignment of the freeway. All work for this area is expected to be completed by 2029.
Information about this project affecting Romulus, Taylor, Allen Park, Dearborn Heights, Melvindale and Dearborn will be shared at two upcoming public meetings. More information is available at Restore94.com.

One to two lanes of I-94 are expected to be open in each direction between I-275 and US-12 (Michigan Avenue) for a majority of this multi-year project. However, drivers should expect many ramp closures.

MDOT is investing $353 million along almost 13 miles of I-94 in Metro Detroit with a variety of work, including rebuilding and realigning the roadway, concrete repairs/patching, bridge work, ramp work, lighting improvements, cable barrier work, improved drainage, Intelligent Transportation System upgrades and building an entirely new interchange at Ecorse Road.
