US-127 traffic shift begins in Ingham, Clinton counties April 26

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will shift traffic onto the southbound side of US-127 between Lake Lansing Road and I-69 in Ingham and Clinton counties on Sunday, April 26.

This work is part of the $45 million dollar investment to rebuild US-127 from Lake Lansing Road to I-69 to improve roadway geometrics, safety and vehicular movement. Work includes pavement repairs using concrete rubblization with an asphalt overlay, bridge improvements and upgraded drainage, signs, intelligent transportation systems and pavement markings.

Traffic restrictions:
This traffic control shift will require lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound US-127 between Saginaw Street and I-69. Please follow the posted detours. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this overall project investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 378 jobs.

 

Safety benefit:
This project will provide drivers with a rebuilt freeway with improved geometrics and rebuilt structures through the corridor. Closing lanes and ramps during this type of work is necessary to provide the safest work area possible for crews and motorists.
