I-94BL Repaving - Ann Arbor
About this project
MDOT is repaving 2.8 miles of I-94 Business Loop (BL) (Huron Street/Washtenaw Avenue) from Main Street to East Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor.
The work, planned for 2027, will include removing and replacing the existing pavement, replacing existing sidewalk ramps and addressing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades, as required. Work will also include pedestrian safety upgrades, including a new mid-block crosswalk and pedestrian hybrid beacon near 4250 Washtenaw Ave., signalized intersection pedestrian pushbuttons with leading pedestrian interval (where feasible), and intersection turning radii changes.
MDOT also evaluated changes to the number of travel lanes and is proposing right-sizing the roadway, or implementing a road diet. More information regarding proposed changes will be available in early spring 2026. Public involvement information will be shared with the public as soon as it is available.
