I-94 BL (Huron Street/Washtenaw Avenue) Repaving - Ann Arbor
About this project
MDOT is repaving 2.8 miles of I-94 Business Loop (BL) (East Huron Street/Washtenaw Avenue) from Main Street to East Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor.
The work, planned for 2027, will include resurfacing the existing pavement and building sidewalk ramps compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), as required. Work will also include pedestrian safety upgrades, like a pedestrian hybrid beacon near 2350 Washtenaw Ave., and pedestrian pushbuttons with leading pedestrian intervals at signalized intersections (where feasible).
MDOT is proposing “right-sizing” the segment of S. University Avenue to Stadium Boulevard and implementing numerous safety upgrades for bicyclists, pedestrians, drivers and transit riders. During the project’s early development, MDOT evaluated the safety, performance and future plans of the entire project area. The project team has collaborated with the City of Ann Arbor and TheRide staff on each of the alternatives being considered.
