Partnering with workforce development organizations

Workforce development focuses on helping people obtain the skills, training, certification and support they need for good jobs, while also helping place qualified job candidates with potential employers. As part of the I-94 modernization project, MDOT is committed to identifying pathways to employment for local residents. Through strategic partnerships and early engagement, the I-94 project team is assisting community members on ways to access training and job opportunities related to its upcoming construction projects, providing enough time for training and necessary certifications for potential job placement in advance of construction.

The I-94 team is working with three key organizations offering mentorship, training and employment resources for Detroit residents.
