Coast-to-Coast Passenger Rail (Potential Connection)
Holland-Grand Rapids-Lansing-Ann Arbor-Detroit
Potential connection
Consistent with the requirements of the Corridor ID Program, a service development plan for a potential new passenger rail connection between Holland, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit will provide the necessary evaluation to make determinations on potential implementation. This initiative is in response to a recommendation from Gov. Whitmer’s Growing Michigan Together Council, which aims to attract and retain talent, improve preK-12 educational outcomes and long-term funding solutions for higher education, and develop strategies for upgrading and modernizing infrastructure. MDOT will conduct planning for this potential new service in accordance with FRA’s Corridor ID requirements and possibly apply for a future Corridor ID funding opportunity.
