Progress timeline

The Blue Water, Pere Marquette, and Wolverine intercity passenger rail services are now moving through the FRA’s Corridor ID Program, which is the federal process for developing new or expanded passenger rail services and prioritizing projects that are necessary to implement those services for future potential competitive federal funding opportunities.

* The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to assess the environmental impacts of their proposed actions before making decisions. It ensures that environmental factors are considered and provides opportunities for public review and comment.
