LANSING, Mich. - MDOT will host two virtual webinars and one in-person meeting to gather input for the 2027-2030 Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). All sessions will cover the same information and offer attendees an opportunity to identify transportation safety concerns.

Accessibility:
Attendees who require mobility, visual, hearing, written, or other assistance for effective participation should contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462 or CurryO@Michigan.gov, preferably at least five business days prior to the scheduled meeting. Forms are located on the Title VI webpage. Requests made after this timeframe will be evaluated and honored to the extent possible.

Background:
Michigan is committed to improving safety, mobility, and accessibility for all residents across the state. To support this goal, Michigan continues to implement the Safe System Approach, a human centered, holistic approach to roadway safety that aims at eliminating fatal and serious injury crashes. These efforts are guided through the SHSP.

Led by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission, the SHSP is a data-driven, four-year statewide plan that guides safety priorities and investments to support Michigan’s Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) goal of eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on Michigan roadways by 2050. The virtual meetings and in-person open house are part of the development of the 2027-2030 Michigan SHSP and is intended to gather public and stakeholder input on transportation safety concerns, trends and potential solutions. Feedback gathered will help identify safety priorities, strategies and future outreach efforts to improve transportation safety for all road users across Michigan.

Public comment:
Feedback may also be submitted online through April 30.
