Meeting in Alpena Township to discuss US-23 pathway extension
MDOT will have a public meeting to discuss plans to extend the existing non-motorized pathway along US-23 an additional 0.9-mile south of the current terminus at Island Drive in 2027 in the Charter Township of Alpena.

Project information:
MDOT plans to invest $900,000 to extend the existing pathway along US-23 south of Alpena 0.9-mile beyond the current ending at Island Drive. This project will include an 8-foot-wide asphalt surface extending to South Partridge Point Road and Outer Drive. Once completed the Charter Township of Alpena will maintain the trail. Funding for this project was provided through MDOT’s Carbon Reduction Template for nonmotorized facilities. Project construction is anticipated in the summer of 2027.
