M-28 lane closure Tuesday south of Munising for digital message sign work
December 29, 2022
MUNISING, Mich. - One lane of M-28 will be closed to traffic Tuesday, Jan. 3, near Alger Heights Road between Munising and Wetmore while crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) install and test new equipment on the digital message sign (DMS) on the north side of M-28.
A single-lane closure using traffic regulators will be needed to install and test the new equipment. All motorists and snowmobilers are advised to slow down and be prepared to stop for workers and equipment at the site. The closure is planned to last from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This work is part of a $2 million project to update and modernize weather and traffic monitoring equipment on environmental sensor stations and DMS installations throughout the Upper Peninsula.
