Project background:
The Spruce Street pedestrian bridge is a four-span steel pedestrian bridge built in 1953. Now 70 years old, the bridge is nearing the end of its service life and is currently closed. Due to deteriorated pavement conditions and its age, MDOT is proposing to remove the bridge. The nearest alternate crossing is approximately 600 feet to the north at Temple Street.
