Public meeting March 1 in Zeeland on improving I-196 Business Loop

ZEELAND, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a public meeting on a project to improve approximately 5 miles of I-196 Business Loop from US-31 to I-196 in Holland and Zeeland. The project is currently in design and scheduled for construction in 2024. MDOT officials will provide project details, current scheduling information and the maintenance of traffic plan. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the project and provide comments. This will be a joint meeting with the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC), who will be discussing their Pedestrian Crossing Study.

Project information:
In 2024, MDOT will improve 5 miles of I-196 Business Loop between US-31 and I-196 to address pavement condition, traffic operations, and safety. Staff from the MACC will discuss nonmotorized needs within the project vicinity for better access to the Macatawa River Greenway Trail (MRGT), other regional pathways, parks, and business districts.
