Two-year project to repair US-2 bridge over I-75 begins

ST. IGNACE, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing about $4.5 million to repair the US-2 bridge over I-75 in the city of St. Ignace. The work on this two-year project will include expansion joint replacement, pier cap and bearing replacement, and painting.

Traffic restrictions:
During ongoing pre-construction stages, eastbound and westbound US-2 traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction using outside lane closures. US-2 lane widths will be restricted to 11 feet over the structure. During the first stage of construction, expected to begin April 10, additional lane shifts and restrictions will be required. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 54 jobs.

This work will extend the service life of the existing bridge to maintain a safe roadway for all users.
