Road work begins on southbound US-31 near Holland

MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $3.9 million to resurface approximately 1.3 miles of southbound US-31 from 32nd Street to Central Avenue near the city of Holland. The project also includes storm sewer repairs, drainage improvements, a new traffic signal at US-31 and M-40 (Lincoln Avenue), curb and gutter replacement, and new guardrail.

Traffic restrictions:
Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic shifts. The northbound US-31 right-turn lane to 40th Street is closed through July as part of a separate project to repair storm sewer.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 47 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This work will improve the driving surface of the road and extend the service life of the roadway.
