Four-way stops coming to B Drive North and B Drive South at M-311

MARSHALL, Mich. ­- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is adding stop signs for two Calhoun County intersections with M-311 (11 Mile Road); B Drive North in Emmett Township and B Drive South in Newton Township. Currently, only M-311 traffic is required to stop at these intersections.  

The new stop signs are planned to be installed the week of Aug. 14. This $49,500 investment includes upgrading the flashing red beacon at B Drive North to a four-way beacon.

More than 11,500 vehicles pass through these two intersections each day, according to state and county traffic statistics. The average annual daily traffic (AADT) on M-311 is 7,624. County traffic counts for B Drive North at M-311 have an AADT of 2,953, with B Drive South having 1,143.

Motorists are advised to be aware of the new traffic patterns and be alert to changes at these intersections.
