CAV corridor pilot project update: Two lanes closed on westbound I-94 in Wayne County Nov. 20-21

  • Crews will be installing pavement markings on westbound I-94 for the pilot project to develop a shared connected and automated vehicle (CAV) travel lane.
  • Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, and Tuesday, Nov. 21, crews will close a second lane on westbound I-94 from Belleville to Rawsonville roads. The lane will reopen by 3 p.m. each day.
  • Weather permitting, this lane configuration may resume Nov. 27 during off-peak hours, following the Thanksgiving holiday.

BELLEVILLE, Mich. ­- Weather permitting, crews will close the middle lane of westbound I-94 from Belleville to Rawsonville roads starting at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, to continue installing pavement markings for the ongoing pilot project to develop a shared connected and automated vehicle (CAV) travel lane.

This work zone currently has one continuous lane closure expected in place through mid-December. The additional lane closure will be in place during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Monday, Nov. 20, and Tuesday, Nov. 21. If crews are not able to finish pavement markings on Nov. 21, the second lane closure will continue following the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
