M-85 (Fort Street) project: Northbound M-85 lane closures at Outer Drive for bridge prep work in Detroit/Lincoln Park
December 19, 2023
DETROIT/LINCOLN PARK, Mich. - Prep work for the continued rebuilding of the M-85 (Fort Street) bridges over Ecorse Creek requires additional lane closures on northbound M-85 (Fort Street) near Outer Drive.
Beginning 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, northbound M-85 (Fort Street) will have one lane open approaching Outer Drive to allow crews to install pavement markings, along with utility work, before colder weather sets in. This is preparation for work along the northbound M-85 (Fort Street) bridge over Ecorse Creek, and the continuation of work on the southbound M-85 (Fort Street) bridge near the median.
Currently, there is one lane open on southbound M-85 (Fort Street) approaching the Outer Drive intersection. Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures on M-85 (Fort Street) and Outer Drive adjacent to the Ecorse Creek bridges project through the end of this year due to traffic signal work.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $5.4 million to rebuild the M-85 (Fort Street) bridges over Ecorse Creek in the cities of Lincoln Park and Detroit. The project includes replacing two bridge decks and beams; repairing concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks; replacing guardrails; installing new signs and pavement markings; and signal work.
This project is expected to be completed by late 2024. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 65 jobs.Media Contact:
