Michigan Avenue roundabout at I-94 closed for rebuilding in Jackson beginning Monday, Sept. 29
September 24, 2025
LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close the Michigan Avenue roundabout to the southeast of I-94 for rebuilding starting Monday.
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
This work is part of the multi-year $162 million I-94 road and bridge rebuilding project in Jackson County, made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state's infrastructure.
