Reminder: M-20/US-10 BR improvement project starts March 9 in Midland

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $27 million to improve M-20 and US-10 Business Route (BR) in the city of Midland. Work will include rebuilding the roadways as well as storm sewer replacement, curb and gutter, sanitary sewer, water main, driveway approach, sidewalk/nonmotorized improvements, traffic signal modernization and lighting improvements.

Traffic Restrictions:
During phase one of the project, Indian Street and westbound US-10 BR (Patrick Road) will be closed for rebuilding. Buttles Street and eastbound US-10 BR (Lyon Road) will be converted to accommodate two-way traffic during this work. Phase one is expected to be completed by Nov. 15. Work on phase two will continue in 2027.

Additional traffic restrictions will be announced in advance as the project progresses.

Once work is completed, eastbound US-10 BR (Buttles Street) will be reconfigured between Jerome and State streets, rightsized from three lanes to two. Learn more about the benefits of road rightsizing on the FHWA website.

 

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 228 jobs.

This long-term investment will provide a smoother ride and extend the service life of the roadway.
