Did you know? Pedestrians are three times more likely to be killed and almost 1.5 times more likely to be severely injured by crossing mid-block versus crossing at an intersection. In fact, more than 50 percent of pedestrian fatalities in Michigan occurred when pedestrians did not cross at an intersection.
That is why MDOT is working to create better, safer roads for all users by providing a variety of services and information supporting walking and pedestrian safety.
Broken down or involved in a crash?
Call for help and stay in your vehicle - for everyone's safety.
And if you really must exit the vehicle, do so carefully and move as far away from the roadway as possible.
