Northbound M-53 (Van Dyke Freeway) to close between 18 Mile Road and M-59 (Hall Road) beginning Aug. 5
July 25, 2024
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday Aug. 5, northbound M-53 (Van Dyke Freeway) will be closed from 18 Mile Road to M-59 (Hall Road) for approximately three months for road and bridge work. Traffic will be detoured via westbound 18 Mile Road to northbound Mound Road, then eastbound Dorby Drive/M-59 (Hall Road) to northbound M-53.
There will also be local road flagging for bridge work on M-53 at the following intersections:
- Utica Road,
- 19 Mile Road, and
- Canal Road.
Clinton River Road remains closed over M-53 until late August for bridge work.
This work is part of a $16 million project on M-53 (Van Dyke Freeway) between 18 Mile Road and M-59 (Hall Road) to resurface the roadway, repair concrete and guardrail, repair 10 bridges, and resurface the 23 Mile Road ramps to M-53.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 227 jobs.
