Northbound I-75 bridge deck replacement over Trowbridge Road starts Sept. 3

GAYLORD, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $4.8 million to replace the northbound and southbound I-75 bridge decks over Trowbridge Road south of Wolverine in Cheboygan County. The project also includes concrete patching, painting and approach repairs.
Work on the northbound bridge is scheduled to begin Sept. 3 and be reopened to traffic by Nov. 15. Work on the southbound bridge was completed this past spring.

Traffic restrictions:
I-75 traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic crossovers built last year in the freeway median. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.
Trowbridge Road will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
Both bridges were fully open to traffic between May 23 and Sept. 3.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 68 jobs.

This work will preserve the structural integrity of the bridges.
