Third Street closing Monday in Niles for intersection rebuilding

COLOMA, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be closing Third Street south of US-12 in Niles starting Monday, Oct. 14, as the rebuilding project moves into the next phase. This closure is expected to be in place for four weeks as crews work to rebuild the south half of the US-12/Third Street intersection.
During the closure, Third Street south of US-12 will be detoured on Bell Road and M-51.
This work is part of the $27 million investment to rebuild the US-12/M-51 intersection, along with rebuilding 1 mile of US-12 and 2.7 miles of M-51.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 383 jobs.
