M-3 (23 Mile Road) lane closures from Gratiot Avenue to I-94 begin July 11 in Macomb County
July 09, 2025
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, July 11 through 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, lane closures will occur on M-3 (23 Mile Road) for sidewalk work. Eastbound M-3 from Gratiot Avenue to I-94 will have the right shoulder and right turn lane closed. Westbound M-3 from Gratiot Avenue to I-94 will have the right lane closed.
Later this month, drivers can also expect nighttime directional closures of M-3 (23 Mile Road) for pavement repairs and resurfacing. At least one lane will be open in one direction on M-3 (23 Mile Road).
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
This work is part of a $8 million investment on M-3 (Gratiot Avenue and 23 Mile Road) between Sandpiper Drive and I-94, to resurface the road, upgrade sidewalk curb ramps, improve drainage, repair guardrail, and restripe permanent pavement markings.
Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 76 jobs.
