Henry Joy Boulevard to close at I-94 in Macomb County for bridge repairs starting Sept. 2

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is closing Henry Joy Boulevard at I-94 in Macomb County due to a high-load hit last fall that caused damage to the westbound I-94 bridge over Henry Joy Boulevard.

Starting Sept. 2, eastbound and westbound Henry Joy Boulevard will be closed between M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and Irwin Drive to allow crews to safely make bridge repairs. Local traffic will be maintained on Henry Joy Boulevard between Gratiot Avenue and Walnut Street.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured via southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) to southbound Market Street, then eastbound North River Road to northbound Irwin Drive. Westbound traffic will be detoured via southbound Irwin Drive to westbound North River Road, then northbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue).

Henry Joy Boulevard will reopen after preliminary repairs on Friday, Sept. 12. After the initial concrete repairs cure, crews will return later this fall to complete the final work, closing Henry Joy Boulevard for one day. All work is expected to be complete on Oct. 31.
