US-31/3 Mile Road intersection improvements start April 13 in Grand Traverse County

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation will invest $1.9 million to make improvements to the US-31/3 Mile intersection in East Bay Township, including sidewalk and traffic signal improvements, a second westbound left-turn lane, and alignment of the Traverse City State Park Beach driveway with the northbound approach of the intersection. Realignment of the access drive with the 3 Mile Road intersection will improve traffic flow entering and exiting the beach day-use area parking lot.

This project will require a detour for 3 Mile Road traffic via Parsons Road and Airport Access Road for approximately five weeks. Work will also require lane closures on US-31, pedestrian detours, and Traverse City State Park Beach access changes.
