Eastbound I-496 ramp to southbound US-127 closed daily Thursday, Friday

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will have intermittent closures of the eastbound I-496 ramp to soutbound US-127 on Thursday and Friday for pavement markings and barrier wall removal to prepare for the opening of southbound US-127.
This work is part of the $205 million investment to rebuild US-127/I-496 from I-96 to I-496 that is addressing safety concerns, improving roadway geometrics, and improving traffic flow. In addition, this work is expected to improve and rebuild bridges through this segment and update drainage, signs and pavement markings in Ingham County.

This work will require intermittent closures of the eastbound I-496 ramp to southbound US-127 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Please follow the posted detour. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

Based on economic modeling, this overall project investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 2,481 jobs.
Safety benefit:
This project will provide motorists with a rebuilt freeway with improved geometrics and rebuilt structures through the corridor. Closing lanes and ramps during this type of work is necessary to provide the safest work area possible for crews and motorists.
