Overnight M-90 bridge closure Aug. 20 for deck pouring in Lapeer County

DAVISON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close M-90 at the North Branch Flint River bridge in Lapeer County for deck pouring overnight on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The bridge will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via M-24 (Lapeer Road), M-39 (Burnside Road) and M-16 (Fish Lake Road). This work is weather dependent

This closure is part of a $3.5 million investment to improve M-90 from M-24 to the west village limit of North Branch. Work includes resurfacing, centerline rumble streets and pavement markings. Additional bridge work includes resurfacing, painting, scour protection, substructure repair, deck patching, railing repair, silane treatment, guardrail and approach work.

"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."

These improvements will increase driver safety and extend the service lives of both the road and the bridge.
