I-94 closures for Hennessey Road bridge repairs start May 5

COLOMA, Mich. - As part of the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) two-year, $31.7 million investment to repave I-94 between Coloma and Watervliet, work is set to start Monday to repair the Hennessey Road bridge over I-94.

This work also includes a utility permit issued to American Electric Power (AEP) that will require nighttime intermittent closures of I-94 at Park Road, with assistance from the Michigan State Police.

Traffic restrictions:
Two lanes of I-94 will be open in each direction. There will be some nighttime work with only one lane open in each direction.

Hennessey Road will have intermittent single-lane closures, with traffic maintained via traffic regulators and a temporary signal.

Intermittent closures for utility work on I-94 at Park Road will be between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, May 5, through Friday, May 9.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 302 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This work will improve safety, ride quality and the road surface, and will extend the pavement life.
