I-75 bridge, ramp repairs at Cook and Ballenger roads extended through Aug. 29 in Genesee County
July 17, 2025
DAVISON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will continue repairs to the I-75 bridge over Cook Road and the I-75 ramps over Ballenger Road in Genesee County.
Work on this project began on July 14 and was anticipated to end Aug. 12. Due to the remaining scope of work, the project has been extended through Aug. 29. Work will be done in different locations along the project area during this time.
This work is part of an overall $2.7 million investment to improve and repair 13 structures across Genesee, St. Clair, Arenac, Isabella and Clare counties on M-33, I-75, US-10, M-54 and I-94. Work will include concrete substructure patching, resealing bridge joints, steel rocker bearing realignment, steel beam repairs, heat straightening, painting and temporary supports. Work will progress to other structures in the project area.
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
Traffic restrictions:
Cook Road will be closed to traffic starting at 7 a.m. July 21 and will reopen by Aug. 29. Traffic will be detoured via Embury, Grand Blanc Road and M-54 (Dort Highway).
Intermittent ramp closures will be implanted during this work. The Miller Road ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed on weekdays July 17 - 23. The westbound I-69 ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed daily from July 17 to 23.
Ballenger Road will be closed from 7 a.m. July 28 to 5 p.m. July 29. Single-lane closures will be in place as needed throughout the project. A daily shoulder closure will be in place as needed from July 17 to 24 at the southbound I-75 connector ramp.
All lanes of northbound and southbound I-75 will remain open during this work.
